– Several colleagues regularly check to see if our team in Afghanistan is safe. They ask the journalists if anything suspicious happened, if they received any calls that alarmed them. Women journalists there work individually with editors outside Afghanistan for safety reasons. We don’t want female journalists to know each other, because it’s risky.
