Simona Halep, who has not played for a year after being suspended over doping allegations, dropped out of the WTA top 1,000 after dropping 562 places in the WTA rankings released on Monday. She is now ranked 1140th with 10 points, writes News.ro.

Sorana Cîrstea is the player Romanian the best ranked, climbing one place, being on 30th, with 1405 points.

After a drop of one place, Irina Begu is on 40th with 1197 points.

Ana Bigdan remains on the 59th place, with 952 points.

Jaqueline Cristian is ranked 100th, after a climb of two places, with 711 points.

The leader continues to be Poland’s Iga Swiatek, with 9955 points, followed by Belarusian Arina Sabalenka, with 8746 points, and American Jessica Pegula, with 5945 points.

Winner in Cincinnati, Coco Gauff climbed one place and is on 6th with 4595 points, while finalist Karolina Muchova entered the Top 10, after a climb of 7 places, being even 10th, with 2995 points.

Halep awaits verdict

Simona Halep is currently on holiday in Capri, according to several media reports. The former world leader is awaiting a verdict in the doping trial that began last year when she was suspended after the US Open.

Halep, a two-time Grand Slam tournament winner, has not played tennis in an official match since October 2022. The Romanian woman maintains that she is innocent.
