The message of Andrei Shevchenko, the greatest Ukrainian footballer, after Russia invaded his country

Winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2004, former Ukrainian footballer Andrei Shevchenko, for years, launched a call on social media after his country was invaded by Russia.

“My family and my people are under attack! Ukraine and its people want peace and territorial integrity. Please, I ask you to support us and call on the Russian government to stop the aggression and violation of international laws,” Shevchenko wrote on Twitter.

The 45-year-old Andrei Shevchenko is considered the most valuable footballer in Ukraine’s history.

Andrei Shevchenko played 111 times in the national team jersey, for which he scored 48 times, being the all-time top scorer of Ukraine. He won the Ballon d’Or in 2004

In his football career, Andrei Shevchenko played for Dynamo Kyiv, AC Milan and Chelsea London. As a coach, he coached the Ukrainian national team until last year, after which he coached the Italian team Genoa.
