Ion-Nelu Gioroiu, known in Nice as Jojo, has regained the spotlight, just a few months after France was impressed by his gesture to donate its few savings to the victims of storm Alex, even though he did not have a shelter. Now, the Romanian has helped a mother recover her stolen phone after chasing the thief, writes local newspaper Nice-Matin.

In October, the story of Ion-Nelu Gioroiu circled the Fracpresspress. The man donated 150 euros, all his money, to those who were affected by the storm.

The man had been living in Nice for four years without a shelter. day he sold magazines and survived with the little commissions he put aside. However, his act of donating all his savings suddenly brought him notoriety. The authorities also promised him a job, which he received in December.

Now the man has once again come into the spotlight after helping a woman recover her lost phone. The French newspaper Nice-Matin reported extensively on the story, allocating a page to the subject, Radio-Monaco notes, and publishes a photo of the newspaper page.

Prescilla Vialle, the victim, is a young mother, who had just left a supermarket with her eight-month-old daughter in her arms. The woman was trying to calm her little girl, and she was also loaded with shopping bags. He didn’t feel it when someone put his hand in his pocket and stole his phone. He heard almost immediately a streak: “Ma’am, ma’am, the phone.”

She says she didn’t initially understand, but then saw a man “running and yelling at passers-by ‘Help me catch him, he’s a thief’.”

Jojo caught up with the thief and recovered the phone, but was hit during the incident. He returned the phone to the woman and moved on.

“People came and said, ‘the one who helped you is Jojo, you know, the homeless man…’, the woman said.

After that, the young woman read all the articles about this man’s beautiful story and wanted to thank her. “She’s a wonderful person! I had to thank him. He’s a hero,” Prescilla Vialle said.

“We did exactly what people who have courage do…,” Jojo told the local publication.
