Elizabeth Lipa, on the arrival of canoeors in the country: I thank Minister Drula for not answering our phone

Even upon the arrival in the country of the Olympic rowing lot, the President of the Romanian Rowing Federation, Elisabeth Lipa, ironically thanked the Minister of Transport, Catalin Drula, who blames the problems had in training by Romanian athletes from the rowing lot on Lake Snagov and his refusal to communicate in order to find solutions, notes b

Elizabeth Lipa:

Elisabeth Lipa explained to GSP.ro why she is looking for transport minister Catalin Drula.

“A month before the Olympic Games, athletes could no longer train in the afternoon on Lake Snagov because of the sea-like waves caused by motorboats. That’s when I called the Interior Minister, Lucian Bode, and asked him to help us. Thus, during training we were protected by the boats of the Naval Transport Police,” said Elisabeth Lipa.

The former Olympic champion added: “Only the police cannot punish those who run at speed on the lake without the Romanian Naval Authority’s watch, which is under the control of the Ministry of Transport. That’s why I’ve been looking for Minister Catalin Drula. I’ve made countless addresses. I understand that the world is now on leave, but from the autumn the law needs to be changed so that canoeers can train without being disturbed by motorboats.”

“In the morning there are no problems, we go out early on the water when the world sleeps. The afternoon begins,” said Elisabeth Lipa.

Romania’s rowing squad, which won a gold medal and two silver medals at the Tokyo Olympics, returned to the country on Sunday. Athletes were greeted at Henri Coanda Airport by representatives of MTS, COSR and FR Rowing.
