Donald Trump and two of his children must testify under oath on the family’s real estate business

An appeals court in the United States on Thursday rejected a request that Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr not testify under oath in New York’s Attorney General Letitia James’ investigation into the Trump Organization, the DPA reported, as quoted by Agerpres.

The three had challenged a February order by Judge Arthur Engoron of the Manhattan Supreme Court that required them to testify in the New York Attorney General’s investigation into the former U.S. president’s real estate business.

However, the Court of Appeal held that the prosecutor’s office had good reasons to launch the investigation, and “the appellants failed to prove that they were treated differently by other persons in similar situations.”

The investigation wants to determine whether the law was broken by misrepresentation of properties to obtain credits and tax exemptions.

Eric Trump, the only family member to be questioned by James’ team, has invoked about 500 times the U.S. constitutional amendment on privilege against self-incrimination.

Thursday’s decision by the Court of Appeals can again be appealed by the Trump family.
